GLMS education activities in full-throttle with partner project for law enforcement and judiciary – Integrisport Next
GLMS presented to law enforcement and judiciary in Cyprus and Malta within partner project Integrisport Next attending the events coordinated by CSCF Foundation for Sport Integrity in both countries in April 2022.
In the framework of GLMS’ ERASMUS+ partner project, Legal and projects manager, Cassandra Fernandes engaged with law enforcement authorities in Cyprus on 5-6 April, sharing the lotteries’ and GLMS’ perspectives and tools accompanied online by analysis and monitoring coordinator at the North American hub, Chris Yaakoubian. This event was followed by another successful awareness raising in Malta on 26-27 April, where Cassandra was accompanied onsite by Luca Esposito, GLMS General Secretary and online by Brian Petersen, analysis and monitoring coordinator in the European hub. The GLMS team delivered sessions on GLMS’ integrity reports, followed by a peer to peer exchange including members of law enforcement, the prosecution service, as well as INTERPOL, the Spanish police and the Hungarian Prosecutorial service that was involved in the largest international match-fixing case to date (JIT VETO-Bochum case) to exchange best practices. |
The project, coordinated by CSCF Foundation for Sport Integrity, whose director is former Europol officer, Norbert Rubicsek, is raising awareness and offering tools to law enforcement and judiciary across several countries in Europe on tackling sports manipulations. The project approaches the topic by also integrating other stakeholders, including GLMS and its member lotteries. Read full details on the events here : |
