The United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports (ULIS) and the Corporación Iberoamericana de Loterías y Apuestas de Estado (CIBELAE) are joining forces to promote integrity best practices following the highest international standards. Both organizations are proud to announce the conclusion of a cooperation agreement aimed at establishing a relationship and cooperation framework. This agreement is a significant step towards contributing to the ethical growth of the betting market in the region.
Recent developments in the sports betting landscape in Latin America have highlighted the need for such cooperation. The region, with its vast population and passion for sports, is seeing a fast transformation in its sports betting jurisdictions, with countries such as Brazil, which recently legalized sports betting, opening up a new market with immense potential. However, this also brings challenges in terms of integrity and prevention of competition manipulation.
The cooperation agreement outlines several key objectives, including fostering collaboration and technical assistance between both organizations, furthering the professionalization and training of members and officers of CIBELAE, promoting knowledge of sport integrity in Latin America, developing the expansion of ULIS’s network, and encouraging the best practices on sports betting integrity among members of CIBELAE within a global environment.
To fulfill the objectives of the agreement, ULIS will provide an exceptional opportunity for CIBELAE’s regular members (not yet members of ULIS) to access the benefits of ULIS’s services, including monitoring and intelligence, for free for a period of one year before transitioning to full membership. In addition to that, both organizations have committed to providing mutual assistance and services, facilitating the exchange of information, and collaborating on training sessions and congresses.
By signing this agreement, ULIS President Gilles Maillet and CIBELAE President Javier Millian are opening a new horizon for sports integrity in Latin America. "This agreement is crucial to upholding integrity standards and encouraging international collaboration. We look forward to working closely with CIBELAE to achieve our shared goals. " stated Maillet. “We encourage our members to join ULIS and take advantage of all the benefits of this agreement. By doing so, they become part of a global network dedicated to safeguarding the integrity and credibility of sport.” said Millian.
