Consumer insights and trends in Latin America

Playtech has released its latest Responsible Gambling: Consumer Insights and Trends in Latin America report, offering a detailed analysis of the region’s gambling landscape, including sports betting. The report, based on a survey of 2,500 participants across Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Peru, highlights key trends in player behavior, regulatory challenges, and the growing demand for safer gambling practices.

Sports betting remains a popular activity, with 74% of Brazilian respondents believing that some sports matches are fixed to favour players. Additionally, 60% of Brazilians think professional athletes should not be allowed to bet on sports matches. Trust and security are critical concerns for players. In Brazil, 59% of respondents said they would feel safer betting on legal, registered. Meanwhile, 85% expressed concern about gambling companies targeting teenagers in their advertising.

The report reveals a strong demand for stricter advertising regulations. In Argentina, 77% of respondents believe more should be done to regulate gambling ads. Similarly, 80% of Peruvian respondents want to see strengthened regulation for gambling advertisements, while 82% said gambling companies need to do more to help problem players.
