ULIS and UMIG: Coordinated monitoring for Milano Cortina 2026
ULIS will support the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) integrity operations for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games with intelligence, cross-market analysis, and information exchange to help detect suspicious betting activities and prevent integrity threats linked to the Games.
For this operation, ULIS will mobilize the ULIS Monitoring and Intelligence Group (UMIG). This configuration integrates UMIG’s structured workflows via our One-Stop Integrity Platform into the IOC’s integrity ecosystem, ensuring swift exchange of information from state lotteries members of the ULIS network.
UMIG serves as a specialized lottery task force that focuses on overseeing major global sports events. When monitoring a tournament, UMIG meets regularly to exchange information regarding risks and analysis of their respective markets. For next year, beyond the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games, UMIG will also provide integrity monitoring for the AFC Women's Asian Football Cup (March 1-21) and FIFA World Cup (June 11 – July 19).
This ongoing collaboration, built on an established partnership with the IOC’s Olympic Movement Unit on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions (OM Unit PMC), has a strong track record of monitoring during previous editions of the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, as well as the Youth Olympic Games.
The Joint Integrity Unit during the Games
During the Games, the IOC will operate a Joint Integrity Unit (JIU) from 30 January to 24 February 2026 to prevent and address integrity breaches. This timeframe corresponds to the entire period the Olympic Village will be opened.
Created with the Milano Cortina 2026 Organising Committee, the JIU is designed for rapid, secure information-sharing across sports disciplinary bodies and law enforcement, drawing on a model first implemented at London 2012.
