United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports (ULIS) has been one of the international integrity partners in the Australian Match-Fixing Task Force (AMFTF) since it was established in 2025. Sport Integrity Australia (SIA), Australia's designated National Platform under the Macolin Convention, has activated the Task Force to safeguard the Rugby League World Cup 2026 from match-fixing and sports wagering-related corruption.
The tournament runs from 15 October to 15 November 2026 in 9 cities across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
The Task Force brings together rugby league, law-enforcement agencies, government bodies, wagering service providers and international integrity partners. Its aim is to strengthen coordination and intelligence sharing throughout the tournament.
SIA established the AMFTF to protect the integrity of major sporting events hosted in Australia in the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Rugby League World Cup activation builds on the integrity coordination arrangements put in place for the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026.
Within the Task Force, ULIS will monitor betting markets on the tournament through its global network of state lotteries and its monitoring hubs in Denmark, Hong Kong and Canada, and share information and intelligence with Task Force members.
SIA Head of Strategy and International Policy James Moller said the Task Force is about being proactive, vigilant and united.
"While there is no specific intelligence to indicate any threats to the Rugby League World Cup in 2026, it is vital that all organisations involved in protecting the integrity of the competition remain vigilant," Moller said. "Match-fixing is a serious criminal offence in Australia, and it is crucial that these organisations are aware of their roles and responsibilities in contributing to this united approach."
For ULIS President Jean-Luc Moner-Banet, the Task Force shows international cooperation at work.
"This is exactly the kind of cooperation the Macolin Convention was designed to encourage," he said. "Sport Integrity Australia has brought sport, law enforcement, government and the betting sector to the same table. The Task Force can count on ULIS’s monitoring expertise and the strength of our worldwide lottery network.”
